May your days be merry and bright

No snow yet in London town, which might be a good thing, since snow here very quickly turns to muddy slush. Ice and frost, we have plenty of, and white skies. Yesterday morning, as I walked by the park, there was fog lying across the ground, the bright winter sun stood just at the edge of the leafless tree tops, it was a sight to behold. Had I had my camera, that is the picture I would have posted here. It looked so wonderfully wintry.

Happy Holidays!
(& safe journey to those heading out of town)

Oh wow! The lesson is to bring your camera! but you describe it so well that maybe it doesnt matter that you didnt bring it. There has been a lot of white here too.

Wow...you made a new blogpost...LOL

We actually had frost on the ground all day today (it's noon so far) and it doesn't seem to go away. Must be a couple of minus degrees coz the bathroom feels that way :p

Have a great WedgieDay!! :D

Px said...

it's been so foggy here the last few days hasn't it?
still it's making people drive safer on the roads, so that's a good thing

Autumn Storm, I love your avatar.
Sort of a double entendre photo.

I live in Michigan, and it is unseasonably warm..today sunny,no snow, and 50.
My daughter is studying in Prague this year, and right now is visiting London. At least she will have a White Christmas eh?

Trée said...

Happy Holidays to you too my dearest Sweetest one. :-)

Trée said...

And welcome to the new blogger!!!! The whole gang applauds your perseverance and determination. :-D

There's nothing like COLD in Michigan.. actually.. it sucks.. it's cold .. no snow...

Missed ya lots and lots!!!

Hey Autumn, the picture invites a warm and fuzzy feeling - just as you do when you write :)

Here's hoping that you have the most blessed and merry Christmas and the the New Year holds nothing but good thing for you and your family.

Hugs to you !!
Meg

Meg said...

Oh, I should explain my comment a bit I guess - the pic looks cold and nippy but it would invite a warm and fuzzy feeling, just as you do. I realized after the fact that maybe my comment would be taken the wrong way...duh, its been a long week and I have way too much to do before Christmas yet - so I be a bit scatterbrained :)

Take care sweet Autumn!

Oh, and check out my man Santa on my blog - he's YUMMY!!!

:)

tsduff said...

I love the picture you chose - how funny to imagine it in the dead of summer, and now to see it snowy and cold... as Meg says, it invites thoughts of warmth and cheery fire places... friends and family, etc. Stay warm -put those rubbers on (*she says grandly, proud of her British vocabulary :-D) and hurry up home.

Autumn Storm said...

LOL, Terry, I hate to break it to you, but rubbers only means one thing in the UK, and I shan't be putting any of those on, at least not on myself (LOL sorry, couldn't resist).
Oh gosh, but it was hot that day we were there. Especially out on the boat deck, with the sun baking us like cookie dough in an oven.
What I love most about winter is coming in from outside, getting warm, cold noses, woolly socks, fireplaces and hot chocolate. That's what I liked about this picture.
When is your last day of work, Terry? Hope you're having a good one, xo

tsduff said...

Friday.

tsduff said...

Awe shucks about the rubbers..

Autumn Storm said...

Autumn Storm said...

Meg, I could never take anything you say the wrong way, and it was clear as day. :-) Always so very sweet, and it is so thoroughly undeserved, since I haven't written anything worthy of actually being posted in weeks upon weeks upon weeks. (didn't always stop me though;)
Meg, you're beautiful,
& I liked your Santa :-D
Hope to see you around a little over the Christmas holidays, Meg, in between all your partying and family time. Wishing you a perfect Christmas and every happiness for 2007. Love and hugs, x

Autumn Storm said...

Jeff, so good to see you. I'll be over to catch up on all the news soon! :-)

Autumn Storm said...

Thank you, thank you, poppy boy, it took some doing as you know, but I made it. :-D

Autumn Storm said...

Thank you, g-man, I am rather fond of it, I must admit. :-)

Have to admit too, that I wouldn't immediately say no to swopping with you, I'd have to give that idea some serious contemplation. Winter sure does look pretty, but stepping out in the mornings is, in a word, Brrrrrrrr!

Your daughter must be having the time of her life. Prague, though I've never personally been (I missed out on a chance to visit Prague many years ago and have wanted to remedy this ever since) is supposed to be beautiful.

Autumn Storm said...

I remember the thickest fog, I was ever in. I've not seen anything like it before or since, it was like I had entered into a giant marshmellow and I really could not see my hand in front of my face. I had been to a party and was walking home in the dead of night, all by my lonesome, and it occured to me at the time that really it should have been somewhat nerveracking, not knowing what was up ahead, not seeing what lay behind, but all it did was feel safe and protected. I couldn't see, but nobody could see me either.
Nothing quite like that these last couple of days, but it has been continuously foggy, for days on end, and I don't remember the last time this was the case.
And yes, absolutely, wonderful silver lining, if it needed one, people do drive safer, not least with the icy conditions of late.

Hope all's well, Petey, that the week brings you some joy.

Autumn Storm said...

Christa, hey,
Now there, you've mentioned (indirectly) the thing I miss perhaps the most about Scandinavia, heated flooring! :-)

Yep, and I've yours coming up. :-D

Autumn Storm said...

That could have been a picture to win awards, James, at least how I was seeing it, being able to capture it on camera takes talent. :-)

5.06 is on route quicker than any of us might wish :-), stay warm on that bike of yours.

Autumn Storm said...

Boots are boots :-) And nobody says macs anymore. Yep, maybe Terry is right about the rubbers, and it has just disappeared along with a whole host of other words, and traditions, that we used to have.
Just a few teething problems with Beta, in the beginning betas couldn't comment on ours, there was something else in the middle that also only lasted a day or three and then this latest problem, also quickly fixed. Gotta hand it to them, when there are issues, they are cleared up as quickly as possible.
Don't forget to keep a look-out for yours, it'll be on your dashboard. :-)

Woooooooohooooooo! (Brian came home, right?:-D) ENJOY!!!

Autumn Storm said...

Merry Christmas, Kesh, hope 2007 brings you all you need and a nice portion of what you want. :-)

SweetK said...

Oh Autumn, what a lovely photo. But not nearly as lovely as YOU. :)

Trée said...

Sweet dreams when you get that far. You made my day today, just so you know. :-)

Trée said...

Just so you know, I had to sit all the boys down on the sofa and have a long talk with them. For some reason they were quite upset and not understanding why you couldn't be around whenever they wanted you. I explained you lived far away and were peacefully in the throes of sweet slumber, maybe even about them, and that until you found that night job, this was just the way it was going to be. You should have seen the long faces and rolling of eyes. You would have thought I had told them they had to rake all the leaves by themselves before they watch anymore cartoons. So finally, to bring a measure of peace and compromise I told I would talk to you about sleeping faster and finding a more appropriate job. That seemed to satisfy them for the moment and I was able to get them all in the bubble bath, teeth grinning as white as the bubbles and what a mess they made slashing water and soap to the heavens and singing at the top of their lungs. Their song went something like this: "Our baby is sleeping like a log, little does she know we would be on her like a hog." And then they would burst out in laughter and splash more soap and water about grinning like monkeys.

In other news, I've got the coffee brewing. :-)

Trée said...

Please accept my apologies. I had two in the bath and three in bed, or so I thought. Little devils sneaked out and jumped in your bed for a little toe tickling. Hope they didn't disturb your slumber too much. Seems my little talk went in one ear and out the other. Rascals, the whole gang and unremitting too. :-D

Trée said...

So I finally got them all in bed and put on a movie, "The Princess Bride" one of their favorites. Oh, the hooting and hollering so I headed into the kitchen to pop some popcorn just to find a little peace. Nothing quite like standing in the kitchen at night, all alone, just you and the vittles. Anywho, I brought the popcorn back and before I got to the bedroom I noticed how quiet it seemed, which is not a good sign. So I peeked around the corner, careful not to spill my bowl of popcorn nor alert the gang to my looking, and what did I see but a posse gathered around my computer, eyes big as saucers and wide like cats. So I walked quietly behind them to see what they were looking at. Lo and behold, I had left my lappy with your site on, and they saw the drawing I did and were staring at it like a bunch of dogs staring at the last bone. Little buggers, can't leave them alone for a second. :-D

Okay, back to the kitchen to boil some water. I think this is going to be a french press morning. :-)

tsduff said...

Late to bed and so early to rise... you must be sleep deprived :-) Don't know how you do it. Just saying hi - happy Fridy to you, and whoopee, only one more day before some well deserved time off!

Autumn Storm said...

Waiting on it, Terry, I can tell you. If for no other reason, so that I can spend a whole day here. :) Or night rather, days for M, if she wants them. I'll be sleep deprived upon my return Wednesday. :-D

Will we see you online at the weekend before you leave?

Autumn Storm said...

Trée :-D! And that's all I can do right now, smiling too hard and lovin those monkeys.

Christa said...

Oh my...I haven't thought about heated flooring for a long time, but you're right. That's great. Makes for a much better room temperature and you don't have to wear slippers to prevent your feet from going into an icy state :p

When me and Chris in Sweden rebuilt his kitchen and bathroom, we put heating in both those floors. No radiators or anything else, and it worked great :D
I think that was the first time I saw heated floors.

Not sure why they don't do it around here though...gotta ask Mr Greywulf about that ;)

Meg said...

Hey Autumn,
Happy Friday !! Hope yours is going well. Looking forward to the nice long holiday weekend after this last day of work.

Take care beautiful lady, so glad to have found you this year and look forward to times in 07.

Autumn Storm said...

Happy Friday, Christa! :-)

My house in Denmark had heated flooring throughout and that was the only type of heating. The temperature was regulated and it was just gorgeous! Could use that here in these cold English houses, that's for sure, but very few have, even new buildings.

Autumn Storm said...

Meg, as with last year, I have been very priveledged to have met a whole host of wonderful people here. Quite amazing really, how many of you there are floating around out there. :-) Absolutely, me too!

Merry Christmas, Meg, to you and yours (know you don't log on from home so presuming we won't see you until after Christmas), hope you have a lovely couple of days, xo

Autumn Storm said...

J, my own sweet ghato, was so very, very nice to receive those this morning! So glad that you had such a wonderful time, guessing it was great to come back home though as anticipated. :-)
Missed you too, sure did, tons and tons. Perhaps we'll get a chance to catch up more soon. :-) Love & hugs, xxx

tsduff said...

I'll be in and out.. not leaving until Monday night. How about you? Big Christmas dinner at home with the folks... and the bother :-)?

Autumn Storm said...

At home with the family, yes. :-) Christmas eve celebrations rather than Christmas Day as per usual.

I'll be on as much as possible, hoping to catch you for an overdue chinwag. :-D
Sweet dreams, x

Merry Christmas Autumn and M!

Autumn Storm said...

Don't we always want what we do not have. :-) I could do with a little sun right about now.
Merry Christmas, D, to you and yours. What I love about the turn of the year is that this is the day, more than any other rightly or wrongly, that we hold the thought at the forefront of our minds, that there are new opportunities ahead and that we never know what is around the next corner. I hope 2007 brings you what you have been searching for, and I wish you love, joy and peace.
Hugs, x

And to you too, Isay. :-) You're ending this year on a high note, and I know it will carry through to the next for you. Hope you have a wonderful time however you are spending it. Love and hugs, x

hey sweetie!
hope all's well with you...
today feels like London weather
here in town...brrrr!
my fingers are moving slowwwwly...
i have that big winter solstice gig
tonight with Gary and the gang...
once i get there and get going
i'll be fine...i even worry about
silly things like finding a darn
parking spot downtown and dragging
20 pounds of drums and percussion
and stuff...maybe i'll break down
and use my dolly this time...!
how un drummer like!
oh well, i'm old i can get away with it!
this is the hundred people in a huge
room dancing and drumming thang,
end of the year blowout whatever...
its a good time to beat the drums
i figure...it'll get everyone right
for their holidays....!
i hope you have a wonderful
peaceful joyful holiday,
so caring of you to be
with your family and
i think the stars will shine
upon you this season...
lots of love,
lisa

Autumn Storm said...

Hey Sweetie,
I'm just listening to you, as we speak, so to speak. :-) Thank you for sharing this with us, I shall most definitely be listening to this many, many more times.
You will have a great time tonight, as you always do. That's gotta make it easier, no? To not worry and go with the flow. Now listening to this here, I'd love, even more, to hear you play in person!
Peaceful, we shall see about, you know what families are like. ;-) Seriously, thank you, Lisa, sweet wishes much appreciated. Hope you've included yourself in those festivities you were talking about, and are going to your sister's tomorrow. In any case, tonight and over the holidays, with Brian there and all the rest of it, I hope that you have a beautifully sweet couple of days. Well, I wish that for you always.

For your morning pleasure, we have Cafe du Monde coffee, hand delivered from New Orleans, a local favorite. I have to warn you, it's strong stuff, so go ahead and leave your socks off, not that I wanted you with them on in the first place. :-D

javajazz said...

thanks sweetie...
just got back from my gig..
man, lots to schlepp...
didnt use half of it...
for some reason
i didnt feel like drumming
so i played mostly percussion.
and then we had segment at
the end where i got to
play just with us 3 and i was
up on stage playing all the
mellow type music...it was nice,
people dug it, a nice way to wind
down too at the end of some high
energy drumming and dancing,
New Age style...i met up with an
old friend there too and we chatted
a wee bit at the end and then i left...
didnt feel like going out for Chinese
(we were playing in the heart of Chinatown,
so a few of the guys went out but i opted
for my cozyhouse and cozy pyjamas
and a hot cuppa tea...how exciting.
glad you enjoyed the muzak,
i'll tell the boys the cd made
it all the way to England!!
and theres more comin
to a mailbox near you...!
ps yes, i know families...
thats why i'm opting for
Silent Night as opposed
to hearing my relatives
scratchy voices...is that
rude?
xoxo me

Autumn Storm said...

Lisa, not only are people doing 'Brians' in 3 different countries, but every good thing I have received through the post recently has evoked the same. :-D Last was postcards from Hong Kong. I love it!
Amazing, isn't it?!
What?
Oh, everything.

Just about anyway. :-)
Silent Night, in moonlight and quiet, the warmth from inside and peace all around. Don't have to be near to feel the love, to take it in, and hand it back out. And well, I'm talking like I have no responsibility to make anyone understand, let's just blame Christmas and that sense of joy that bubbles to the surface many times each day. The girls are so excited today. Leading up to Christmas from the 1st to the 24th, each morning, Santa visits, leaving gifts in exchange for milk and cookies and a carrot for the reindeer. When I see them like this, it just warms my heart, and at the same time makes me think of my grandmother, such a special soul, the best, and her warmth and love, how she made my every Christmas as a child so memorable and special. :-)

just got back from my gig..
How cool is that statement. :-D
So glad it went well, sounds that way anyway, being the source in great part of people's enjoyment, touching them through your music.
Your pyjama and tea evening sounds lovely, much better than out in a noisy restaurant, at least for yesterday.

Rude is relative. :-D
They might think so, but your intention is another. Have a silent night, at least until you hear chiming. ;-)
xoxo

Good morning Autumn...what a pretty picture. I just love the black and whites. I hope you don't have to worry about all that snow but then, it could be fun!

Autumn Storm said...

No snow here, which is fine by me, snow in London is just not the same, too many people and cars, it just doesn't stay clean or pretty for long. Now, being somewhere remote in a warm chalet/cabin, that I could take. Snowball fights at midnight and hot chocolate afterwards before the fire. Yes, that I could take.

What say next year, we all rent one together. :-D
