Open hearts

With dusk upon us, the car stalled and cut out. A long way from any town or garage and in freezing temperatures, not 10 minutes passed before a man approached on foot along the country road to ask, if he could be of assistance. It was soon apparent, the only way we would be moving was behind a tow-truck, so he insisted we come and wait inside.
Within minutes there was coffee on the table along with an offer of supper, M was watching the Disney Channel with a bowl of sweets and a puppy for company and this darling couple were regaling us with tales of their life together.
We were there for a total of 3 hours plus before we got picked up. For that entire time, it felt as though we were in the company of dear friends.

This is just one example among many that I could share. The kindness of strangers never fails to touch my heart when I witness or feel it, not because I believe that most wouldn't do what they can for another, but because each time they do, it is a conscious choice born from no other obligation than the goodness of their hearts, and that is an amazing thing to do. To mis-quote, such people are not strangers, rather friends we didn't know we had.

As with all things, the only way to truly appreciate is to contrast. I've seen hearts that are open and I have seen those that are or seem forever closed. Today, I read these words: "we can win the heart of any person when our heart is open" and it made me think of all the people I have come to love so easily, including those I have met here in the wonderful world of blogs. The one common factor all have shared is hearts wide-open. And mine was won. Time and again.

Jillie shared a most excellent post today (as she so often does) and upon seeing it, I just had to 'play' too.
So, I went on a little treasure hunt. :-)

Oh boy girl - what are you doing? Making the most poignant memory pics around - lovely collage! I marvel at your patience in putting that all together - taking the time to surreptitiously gather all your peeps's pics into one wonderful bunch. I saw Jillie's lovely post today too - you guys are so cool. :-) Very touching post today xoxo

that was so amazing Autumn, i love the pic you choose of me and Jillie's is too perfect cuz she is just like that in real life. That had to of taken at least an hour or more to get all those pics!!!! I have to go check out that site.

Autumn Storm said...

Thanks Isay, Happy day, x

Autumn Storm said...

Thanks Christa.
Do you ever meet people, and even before a word has been spoken, there's an instinctual knowledge that there will be a close connection? :-) So nice when that happens.

Autumn Storm said...

Pete, glad you got to watch it. That picture of yourself and Linny represents the whole and it's such a great picture, so glad you liked it. :-)

Autumn Storm said...

Magdalene-Sophie, that particular sentence is a link that will take you to a place where you will find much more of that. :-)

Thank you for such a nice comment, very much appreciated, and thanks for visiting. :-)

Blogger always goes down after one has typed out a comment. :-)

Jodes, I was telling you about how making these could easily get addictive, at least for a little while :-), and how I wished all my stuff wasn't in storage, my CD-roms and photoalbums, so that I could make some more, lots more. :-) Just imagine all the nice ones you could make of the boys, to send out to family and friends via email or to post for us to see.

Glad you liked the choice of pic, it is I think my favourite of you, and as for our friend, the cheese will always be classic. :-D

Have a wonderful rest of your Tuesday, xo

Oh, oh, oh. There you go, being a fireplace on a nasty day.
At first I was like, who are all these people I don't know? It wasn't until I saw ME!!! that I realized what a lovely thing you'd done for all of us.
It's people like you, Autumn, that make me want to be better. And that's a good thing.

You sweetheart!

Autumn Storm said...

If I wasn't feeling all soppy already, I most certainly would be now. :-) How does one respond to a comment such as that, I don't even know, other than I of course need to thank you for such incredibly kind, sweet and generous words! And to let you know this is precisely what I mean, when I talk about open hearts. You, K, are the sweetheart. Or as I've said a time or two before, the best thing since sliced bread. :-) Love and hugs, to you and the biscotti, xo

Autumn Storm said...

Get my arse together? LOL I've never heard that expression before, but yes, you are absolutely spot on, my arse has been untogether for a while now and it's about time I got those cheeks to join forces. :-D We'll call that my belated New Years Resolution.
Get my arse together. Aye, aye, sir!

LOL - glad you liked it, great opening, don't ya think?! Trée is there, of course he is, just after Linny and Pete, the photo is a little bit dark and a little unclear, but I just love the expression he is sporting in that photo. As for me, if there had been any more room, there would have been more bloggers instead. There are a couple that I missed out, mostly due to their not having posted any pictures of themselves. Somewhere down the line, I might have to do a part II. :-D Not least because I had so much fun doing this one.

Happy Wednesday, xo

Autumn Storm said...

Autumn Storm said...

Thank you, Meg, hope yours is too. How's the willpower coming along? :-D

Autumn Storm said...

Afternoon Terry. :-) Cold here too, today, one of the coldest yet, but nothing on Denmark at this time of year, so in that way, it could be considered mild. One down, 9 to go for me, which means lunch will be postponed until next weekend at the earliest, darnit. Oh well, can't be helped. Hope you're having a great day over there, inspite of cold feet. :-) Love and hugs, x

Autumn Storm said...

Autumn Storm said...

Jillie, thanks for introducing me to this website! And that's why I made the video, purely selfish :-), because it makes me smile so to look at those faces, your faces, knowing each of you to be so very special, knowing the world's a better place because each of you is roaming around your corner of it making it so.
Have fun at work. :-)

Autumn Storm said...

:-) Hey Chai. Happy day, x

Autumn Storm said...

You too, Jodes as in have a great day and not, I will be filling up your inbox with all my photos. :-D

And Jillie, the outside world I mentioned, this 'world' here goes without saying - I will say this though, and it's a thought I have each time I visit one of your sites or open my own to find new comments, it truly amazes me, though on the one hand it shouldn't and on the other I am thankful that it does, the sheer number and the extent to which the people here are so beautifully inspirational.
Now if ever anyone wanted an example of a typical Autumn sentence, there it was. Long. :-D

javajazz said...

its bloody freezing here too,
how odd...
i can hardly feel a thing.
i'm in fumigation mode,
extracting all traces
of teenaged male from
the household...
kind of plodding along
slowly but surely,
the laundryroom looked
pretty funny to start,
literally a sea of bedding,
but the pile is slowly diminishing...
then remembered that we
had to return the upright bass
brian borrowed from a dear friend
who was so kind to lend it to him
for the week, and exchange it for
the rented one i schlepped home
from the music store a few weeks
ago...sooooo, i got to do that
errand which was a lovely break
from all that housework, and
good exercise, and tomorrow,
if i'm real good, i get to return
the rented bass back to the store...this is all very good
for my abs and muscles in
general and i am very grateful
to my son for leaving this
for me to take care of...
my ex will return the drum set
we borrowed from another kind
soul tomorrow, and thankfully
that exercise will keep his
spine and his arm muscles in
fine form...thankfully we have
a child who helps us maintain
our physical health in such
thoughtful and considerate
ways...i was very thrilled
to go out for such fresh air
in rush hour...

trains...?
i forgot!
tho i just found out bri will
be in new york for march break
to do a pretty cool sounding
concert with, get this A,
the london symphony orchestra
(i think) or something
london and mr B-beck senior
and the jazz quintet (B-beck
junior??) so that should
be pretty interesting...
and its something i'm considering
doing, cuz i can handle an hour
and a half flight, just not
these 5 hour specials....
we'll see...maybe i'll meet
a sugar daddy who wants
to treat me to a flight
to new york...and sarah would
just love to go there too!!
i could dig that...especially
if there was no laundry
involved...
man, i'm running on empty now.
kids were up till about 5,
partying the night away,
and bri hadnt packed so
we were just go go going
and now clean clean cleaning...
i almost have my room
ready...!

Autumn Storm said...

Sorry, gotta laugh. Isn't there an expression that goes 'A mother's work is never done' - could be something other than mother, but (and to be correct, let's say parent:-) if there isn't, there certainly should be. Pampering to the max in some fancy spa is what you should get as a thank you for all the stuff you did, before, during, after. At least go buy yourself a nice box of chocolates or some other treat and once you're all done, put a movie on and your feet up and don't move for 2 days.
I just know, you'll do it all again next time. :-)

The London Symphony Orchestra, can I just say WOW. You should definitely try and make it for that, that's really something, Lisa, you must be fit to burst with pride, as you should be. Now, if he could just learn to use the washing machine at yours. ;-)

Writing this between getting the girls ready, making lunches, ironing uniforms and all the rest of it, argh! Maybe I'll get myself a small box too. ;-)

xoxo

argh!!
blogger just ate
my really really
way too long comment!
i'm not even gonna try
to repeat it.
thats never happened.
it just gobbled it up
not to be found or
arrowed back...
sheesh.
maybe its this damn
firefox thingy.
i know nothing about computers
just know
i'm not even gonna try
and remember all that i just
typed!
sheesh.
double sheesh!

tsduff said...

How'd the day go today? Looking forward to putting your feet up and relaxing I bet.

Autumn Storm said...

Lisa, nothing to do with firefox - it has happened to me so many times (and others) that I almost always copy before pressing publish just in case, and especially on the longer messages. Poor you, so frustrating when that happens - anyways, whatever you said, I'm sure it was brilliant. :-D
Happy Thursday, xoxo

Autumn Storm said...

Morning, Terry, or afternoon as the case may be, just about that time I think. Feet up now, having a coffee and checking up on you guys, few things could surpass that right at this moment. :-D Hope you're day is going well, xoxo

imfredshand said...

oops blogger just ate my comment... so you may get this twice...

This is a most intriguing story and one which demonstrates well the purpose of compasion in our universe.

You are indeed a fascinating and unique individual.

Oh yeah... in my first comment (the one which was lost) I talked about the woman in the little photo montage with the giant cheese on her head.

I wonder what turn of events lead her to having that giant cheese on her head!

Autumn Storm said...

James, that was a thoroughly endearing comment. I've always wanted to be fascinating and unique. :-D

The cheese is Jillie and the story behind it can be found through her link. Give me a night's sleep and I'll find it for you. :-) Regards the story, I cannot tell you how it warmed my heart. There are other factors that simply have to be taken into consideration also that just speak so of what a wonderful couple they were. I think the world is full of good people, but it is truly noteworthy when they go out of their way to help another for no other reason than that it is within their means to do so. And it is what I see here time and time again, people taking the time to be there for one another, or rather taking the time to care, to forge relations, and it's just nice. I don't know how else to put it, it's nice to witness, to see and to feel such special, caring and generous hearts. Sweet hearts.

Thank you, James, happy (almost) Friday, x

javajazz said...

hi kids!
so J, you got your comment
ate too, huh?
sheesh.
thats so lavalife,
it pisses me off...
its never happened on this
site, but it sure has on some
of the others, where when you
press the arrow back
and there is a vacant square
where your heartfelt outpourings
were one second prior to that,
they might as well put a picture
up of some ass giving you the
finger and laughing at you
after having devoured our
well thought out words,
or, as in my case last night,
my exhausted non stop blatherings.
sometimes i think, it happened
for a reason, and in my case
the reason might be because
i talk too much but whatever,
somebody has to do it....
giant cheese...oh J, you are
funny and whimsically
silly to think of what might
cause someone to wear a
giant piece of cheese
on their head...doesnt
everyone do it?
and yes, Autumn is not
only fascinating and unique,
but a sweet angel here on
earth and a highly evolved
soul, among about a million
other things....
(when you say too much of
stuff like that to her,
she turns into a giant
marshmallow, except she
spells it marshmellow,
cuz it makes her all
mellow and mushy...)

one thing i do remember from
last nights middle of the night
comment (i stayed up the entire
night cleaning and was suitably
out of my mind when i wrote
my devoured comment) is that
i was raving about the fact
that Autumn irons! i think
that is incredibly impressive
when a mom and a busy mom,
takes the time to iron her
kids uniforms...
i only iron brians shirts
before they go into a suitcase
maybe about once a year,
and when i did the other day,
they looked wrinkled even
before they got into the suitcase
and probably even worse coming out...

Lorenzo Lamas - Ha ha. He would have to grow his hair out just a bit.. and trade in his bike for a real bike (Harley) LOL. He holds his own in the looks dept Keshi :-D

Autumn - HI!LOL that WAS a fun picture of Jillie - Ms. Cheesehead USA... have to go back and watch it a few more times just to smile. I saw Trace and her hunk in there... wonder how she is - (still wearing sunglasses because the ROCK on her finger is so bright)

Lisa - you wild woman you... got your email. Will take me a bit of time to respond in kind... wow! I like the part about our kids' opinions... surely I do know what you are talking about. And, I think you should follow your OWN instincts first, taking in those kidlet opinions second. :-D Oh, and you need to get in the habit of COPYING EVERY COMMENT YOU MAKE BEFORE you try to post it. I've lost a fair share of heartfelt comments which just went away at the click of the backup key... GRRRRRR

Trée said...

pass it on!!
you know who irons also?
my mom, Lola! (who had the

became hip again...)

but whats really
weird is that she says
she LOVES ironing.
isnt that weird??
Lolas so out there,
wouldnt you know?
she loves ironing...
maybe its like a meditation
thing or something...
she ironed a pillow case
that she put on one of
the 2 pillows she loaned
me when the smelly boyz
were here...can you imagine
one of them actually looking
down at that pillow before
laying their funky heads
down for the night and saying,
"hmmm, an ironed pillowcase....
looks like Lola's been at it,
again...!"

J, er, i mean, Fred?

someone like me...perhaps
you'd experience something

Note of T & G trivia:

When at the tender age of 14 I began making numerous and very lengthy long distance calls to G, I ran up a HUGE phone bill. My punishment, that summer, was to have to iron the mountain of laundry in the laundry room for a nickle a piece. These were mostly horrible, tiny, wrinkled baby clothes. It took me all summer to work off that phone bill... and I guess I have to say every bit of it was worth it... for all those delicious sweet voice calls I had with my Bear. But I don't iron now. :-D

Autumn Storm said...

Perfectly hallmark, ;-), this story just gets better and better.
Can you guess what I am going to ask you? Do you have any pictures from those days? :-D
Gosh, no wonder you dislike ironing, who could blame you, a whole summer spent before the board. Bless your mom though, she sure knew how to teach valuable lessons.

Lola. Love it. :-D Fabulous name! Lola, very glam, definitely the type to have ironed pillow cases.

Lindsey said...

That was such an amazing story!!

I've missed you my dear Autumn!!

Autumn Storm said...

:-) So sweet you are, xo

tsduff said...

You know, the only picture I have from those days, is of my Sweetie's school id card... and it is buried in my hope chest. I kissed it a thousand times back then - and you know, I have some letters and post cards he sent. One was quite comical - something about that he was going to die if he couldn't find another cigarette to smoke.. oh, and another juicy snip about recharging his batteries... with those funky, farout positions on the floor... tee hee, written in 1971. But no, no other other pictures with which to go back in time. We were too busy riding on Mysty - (Mistic Moon) my black and white pinto to take pictures. sigh. Lovely memories - thanks.

tsduff said...

Are you home yet? huh? I realized I don't know your work hours... just guess a lot. Hurry home slave girl :-)

Autumn Storm said...

Home now, :-), and they change from day to day.
Hey Terry, hugs, x
Those memories sound so wonderful. The first time I fell for your story was when you told me how you used you used to ride your horse to the beach to meet, just an old romantic at heart, the sweetness of the two of you has had me smiling ever since. Pure hallmark, and I mean it as a compliment, though that comment does usually get followed with a grin. :-)

imfredshand said...

Hey my mom irons too!

I dont iron a thing..

I used to, when i worked at mcdonalds, cus they were kinda fussy.

Jeez that was torture... every day I'd do my ironing about 3 minutes before I had to leave for work... then spend my entire shift panicking that i'd left the iron on! What is it about irons?? And what DOES happen if you leave it on?? I always half expected my house to be a smouldering wreck when i got home.

Lavalive.. good idea.. i might look there.

Mcdonalds made you iron?

AND they probably paid
shit too...
sorry, my bad.

Terry, doesn't seem right somehow that it would be so much colder there than here. It's cold in the mornings and evenings, but nothing near what you are reporting. Brrrr is right! Hope the rest of your weekend was bright and that Monday has gotten the week off to a great start. xo

Autumn Storm said...

Sara - there you are! You been partying since new years? :-D
Missed you tons, be over in a bit to see how 2007 has been treating you so far. And thank you, xo

Autumn Storm said...

Coffee, am enjoying my after dinner one as we speak. Likely consume to much of the stuff, but hey, if one is going to have a vice, it ain't the worst one to have! Thanks Meg, my Monday was a ton of fun, flirtatious chefs make for many giggles in the course of a working day. :-D Hope your weekend was fabulous, we sure did miss you 'bout these parts though, you wouldn't believe how quiet it gets at the weekend, esp. Sundays. Of course, I could have just gone out somewhere too and I wouldn't have noticed. :-D
Have a great rest of your Monday.
PS Put the kettle on, I'm coming over to yours in a bit, may as well have another cup while I'm there. :-) xo

And PS Thank you most kindly for the very sweet words, but those things are so very easy to make and as I told Terry, it saves me from having to scroll every time I want to take another look at those fabulous images, now all I have to do is press play. :-D

Autumn Storm said...

Poppet, it just warms my heart so that you liked it, really does. And I take it to heart for I know how watching it makes me feel, and these are your images. When I see them all in sequence like that, I'm just amazed all over again at the great body of beautiful images that you have created, and what brings it home all the more is knowing that those included do not even make up a quarter of all the stunning fractals that you have shown to us. Missed you today - hope you are having a very nice Monday, not too stormy. xo

Autumn Storm said...

Afternoon to you, my beloved ghato. :-) Thank you, hope the same is true for you! xo

Meg said...

Come on over then A....I'll put on the kettle and we'll sit up all night and chat over coffee - er' with that amount of coffee we might not sleep for days....perhaps a few glasses of wine then.

ok with you?

I'm out for the evening, and your probably close to bedtime - sleep peacefully !

Hugs,
Meg

Terry, I'm around for the next 4 hours off and on, other than that I'll be back about 8pm my time - hoping to catch up with you at some point, seems like ages again since we spoke.

Kesh, the people in this place are too kind - what I need to do is write a new post. It's on my agenda. :-) Hope your week is going well thus far, xo

Autumn Storm said...

Copy and paste, I do it religiously these days! Horribly frustrating when that happens - enough to make a person wanna scream, not least since the re-write is never as good.
Lisa, hey from London all the way to Canada, xoxo

Jodes said...

hey girl - you ok? this post is getting pretty old - it is a great post.....but we need new stuff from you, you are missed. you know you can put that video thing on your blog all the time....you can pick a spot in your side bar and copy the code in there....at least in old blogger you can...

Autumn Storm said...

I know. I'm a bad blogger, all I can say is new post coming up asap. :-D Hey Meg, you gorgeous young thing - I'll take that glass of wine right about now, if you've still got some going. :-) Hope all things are good over your way, happy Tuesday to you, xo

Autumn Storm said...

Morning Terry. :-)
Spring cannot be too far off now, days getting longer and warmer and all the rest of it, and a jolly good thing it is too - on days like today where I spent most of it inside, I barely saw daylight. Hope you day is going well, love and hugs, xoxo

Autumn Storm said...

Yep, that's J, devastatingly handsome to say the very least. And he's got the personality too! Beautiful in every way is Mr. Thyme. :-)
Sending some hugs along with that hello that is being passed back and forth. :-) Hope you're having a superb day, xo

Autumn Storm said...

Jodes, that's an excellent idea! I'm sure that is possible, thanks for that. :-)
Re: a new post, half my 'problem' is that I prioritize reading far above writing, but I have 4 days off coming up soon, so if not before then, I'll make sure to get something up then.
Hope you have a wonderful day, thanks as always for stopping by and saying hello, so nice, so sweet, especially when it's on the same old same old. Hugs to you, x

Meg said...

Your NOT a bad blogger....your just a popular one :)

you'd be loved even if you just posted your grocery list here.....

I'll try to be patient....really, I will.

jillie said...

I'm already for that tropical trip...umbrella drinks, cabana boys and all! Now wouldn't that be a bloggin fun trip?

Autumn Storm said...

Sure would, Jillie, no doubt about it. I can just picture us all layed out on beach chairs in a row soaking up the rays. How much are tropical islands, does anyone know? :)

Sweet Meg, you have my word, by the end of the week at the very least I will have posted my shopping list. :-D xo

tsduff said...

Oh goodie - want to the the shopping list. How fun... a day in the private life of Ms. Autumn Storm. Does she have anything exotic on her shopping list? Kippers? Bangers? (gross)Crisps? Hmmm - I'm trying to think of all the English food I know but am coming up totally lame. Crean> Certainly coffee - :-)

tsduff said...

OOPS - let me just step over here and put on my reading glasses - man alive, what was I typing??

Autumn Storm said...

Salt and vinegar crisps! About the only british food (if that is in fact what it is) that I miss, when I am not here. No full english for me thank you very much, I'm more your muesli kind of gal - which btw we might be able to class under exotic, since I remember explaining to someone in the land of blogs what exactly that was. Noodle soup, does that count? I wanna be exotic! Let's see, what else, chinese cakes, gooey, jelly-like things that are just the bees knees and I am completely hooked. Ooooh, and chocolate, not exotic, but definitely a must on the next shopping trip, haven't had chocolate in what seems like forever (read about a week). :-)
You've taken chinwag on board, I've got your man alive, what a wonderful world is this. :-D
Now the question is, what am I typing? LOL I was tired at 3pm, it's now midnight, and so with that, it's about that time. Have a wonderful evening, Terry, talk to you tomorrow.
PS what was the name of that health food that you were buying by the ton just recently - meant to try that and forgot the name. Now that sounded like something that really could be classified under exotic. I vote we see yours instead (shopping list)!
Love and hugs, xxx

tsduff said...

Quinoa :-D

tsduff said...

bees knees? Gadzooks! Your vocabulary is fab. We have those salt and vinegar chips here and although they scour my tongue, I adore them.

tsduff said...

Now off to bed wich ya, unnerstand?

HUGS (((xxoo)))

Autumn Storm said...

I'm too tired to walk up the stairs. :-D
Going, promise, before it's time for me to get back up. :-)

Autumn Storm said...

PS Quinoa, thanks, that was it! See you first thing, x

Meg said...

Morning/Afternoon...Happy Hump day to ya.

Hope its going along smashingly.

Hey, btw something I wanted to get back to with you....flirtatious chefs????? You made that comment earlier and I breezed right past it...mmmmm, do tell. Could there be any better combination? A really good flirt that can cook - that can cook really, really well???

You lucky girl - I wanna trade jobs with you :)

I'm rambling....

bye

tsduff said...

Happy Wednesday-all-done-at-work... to you :-) I have far to go yet.

javajazz said...

attention AUTUMN STORM,
RED ALERT!
do NOT buy QUINOA
(pronounced keen-wah)
ever.
its not neccessary
to ever have to eat
anything as grossly
healthy as that.
STEP AWAY FROM THE QUINOA!
and nobody need get hurt...
like frickin' buckwheat
noodles and millet aint
bad enough, sheesh,
this shit tastes like
ground up Birkenstocks....
jus stick to your noodles
girlie (no pun intended,
as they stick to your ribs
and all!) and your gooey
yummies and chocolate,
and everything will
be right in the universe...

california hippie health
food..sheesh.
k,
i'm done.
(no wonder people wont
talk to me...)

javajazz said...

ps...
what IS quinoa anyway?

javajazz said...

they probably use it
to fill cracks
in concrete or somethin'...
sheesh.

tsduff said...

no Lise - it isn't crack spackle. It is lovely, barley-like little white balls of grain. I love it, and it is fabulous. Healthy yes, no lard for your ass, and no cholesterol. Just what I need to be healthy :-) Now if I can just cut out the crisps and cheese...

tsduff said...

HA ha ha ha Lisa you just make me crack up. Where's that spackle...

Autumn Storm said...

I forgot to copy! How could I forget to copy - we have been repeating it religiously for days now!

You wouldn't believe how tired I am, if you knew, you know why I'm just gonna have to wait til morning to re-write that.

Hugs to my gals, xoxo

javajazz said...

oh poor Autumn!!
cant you work shorter
shifts?
and just add about
3 more days on to each week?
sheesh...
you need to rest...

Terry...
little white balls?
i love little white balls!
(dont go there girlfriend!)
okay, no ball jokes...
i'd have to slather it
in butter just to help
it down my poor throat,
like i do with millet,
which looks like little
yellow beads, and tastes
like little yellow beads...
that would require butter
AND cinnamon...
even spackle might taste
better! spackle sounds
better, dont it?
what a great word...
spackle!
maybe the dry doug dog guy
can use that in
his word thingy...
snap, crackle, spackle.

what the heck ever
happened to good old
fashioned oatmeal?
at least it doesnt
taste like yackle...

copy annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd
send....

tsduff said...

Lisa - we had oatmeal for breakfast this a.m.... what? you eat millet? WHAT??? ARE YOU CRAZY? REALLY? wow. I feed it to my birds every morning, but I didn't know PEOPLE eat it? Really?... *sitting with shocked look on her face****

Autumn Storm said...

Face it, 'cept for potato crisps, chocolate and all the rest of it, we are so healthy. :-D

Anyway, so yesterday I went on and on, giggling away to myself (which I often do) as I was writing my own comment - best thing is though, when I read them back later, they are so unfunny. LOL Which just makes me laugh even harder.

So, yes, quinoa, oats, muesli, chips and chocolate, and we'd be set. Easy!

Meg, really I should write a post about the people that I work with - that would be reason enough to stay there (they want me to stay), really would, such a varied bunch.
And as for the chefs, they just make me laugh! That's not what they were aiming for in most cases though. LOL

See you all later - happy Thursday, when you get that far, xoxo

have a great one !!

Hope you only meet friendly lions along the way.

Sending big hugs your way - hope you are doing okay, x

Autumn Storm said...

Afternoon, sweet Meg - hope you've seen the worst of that dreaded headache and are well on your way to feeling 100%.

Still at the Christina and Britney stage here at mine, little younger than your lot. :-)

Have a great evening - going home time soon for you, just one more day to go.

PS Remind me to tell you the difference between an Italian and an English chef - can't do it here. :-D

jillie said...

Ok Autumn...now you've got that song in MY head...Only there are no poppy fields and the snow just keeps coming down every so lightly ;o)

Meg said...

Look so forward to you explaining the difference to me !!!! Do tell, do tell.....I bet it doesn't have a whole lot to do with actual taste of things....er' maybe it does????

help, just about time for me to blow this joint....see you in the a.m. (well, mine anyway)

is tomorrow day 10? Or are you officially done for a few days now? hope it soon because I so can't wait much longer for that much anticipated "grocery list" post :)

hugs!!!

javajazz said...

millet's gross...you couldnt PAY me to eat it...be careful the birds dont choke on it (okay, kidding!)...ya, it really does taste like dry plastic beads...
i tried it years back cuz its the only alkaline grain that doesnt have all the snotty stuff that oats and other grains have, but honestly i had to put so much milk and sugar and butter in it, it cancelled out the health benefits! i find chocolate helps...just alone!
xo

Autumn Storm said...

Tomorrow's day 10 (thank goodness) and I'll email (most definitely my turn) you about my chefs 'day 11' at the earliest. :-D
Have a fabulous evening! As for me, I'm more than ready for my bed - nighty night, x

Lisa - ever had a Cadbury's creme egg?

tsduff said...

cluck cluck cluck... um cadburys egg. They are devastating in every way.

jillie said...

I just noticed your lung cancer "ad" you know, my mom developed it from second hand smoke and she's 2 1/2 years in remission. I like to tell people to kiss my arse when they say second hand smoke doesn't kill...tell that to my mom.

Autumn Storm said...

I'm sure I have read somewhere that second-hand smoke is in fact more damaging! Don't quote that before I look it up though, could just be something I imagined.
Hope you guys are doing okay, xo

Terry, :-D, that they are.

javajazz said...

like those easter ones
with the yellow, "stuff",
in it? thats not what i
meant by snot by the way,
when describing an alkaline
grain...most grains and breads
cereals and stuff create acidic
conditions in the
body, and too much of that
glorious stuff which i
practically lived off of
as a kid, will eventually
create an imbalance in the
body...apparently we need some
kind of a ph balance or i dont even know what i just said, like
an acid/alkaline balance, or
else we start to get stuff like i have, and an overly acidic body
will cake up with stuff to the point of getting digestive disorders, circulatory challenges,
arthritis, immune malfunctions, due to blockages caused by over acidity...actually alkalinity is the desired state, not so much an acid alkaline balance....oranges are acidic, grapefruits and lemons are actually alkaline, even tho they are citrus, they have a different property in the body,
grains have gluten (thats the snotty i forgot the name of the other day, rice has it too, that kind of stick to the ribs yummy comfort food quality that is killing us all...chocolate?
well, it may be killing me personally, but i consider that an essential food group, so who cares,
what a way to go...coffee, dairy,
all acidic...probably just gross things like millet and QUINOA are alkaline, and anything we love that brings us comfort, is essentially killing us.
um, what did you ask? oh yeah,
i did have a cadbury creme egg as a kid, and yes it was pretty yummy, but as an adult i prefer my chocolate without gooey fillings, tho i do know you have a weakness for gooeyness in your confections
and thats perfectly understandable and fine and probably somewhat sensual...some people just adore that stuff. i like my foods and my chocolate more plain, mostly and dry, sans goop, chocolate can have nuts tho, but pass on the goo...please note however, this has no bearing on my sexual activities, not that this is an appropriate time to be discussing that...
so back to cadbury creme eggies...
buck buck buck buck...and its still over 2 months till we see the little rabbit on tv who makes the chicken noises as Easter approaches (no sacrilege intended...) but Easter is probably more commercialized than Christmas at this point and seems to have made chocolate eggs somehow just a tad more important than the original significance of that religious holiday, somewhat like christmas shopping obligatory gifts, family stress and expectations and visits to santa have taken over the truer meaning of Christmas...
man, i think i need more sleep...

javajazz said...

so day 10, huh?
sheesh. maybe its better to do 4 days, and one day off, 4 days and one off, instead of working your nuts off for a million hours and then being so tired you're in shock for your 4 days of rest...for the few minutes i worked back in the fall, even when i worked like a 9 hour day, i figured i could go like that, but not for more than about 3 days in a row, and then needed my body to not be in that environment...
i think soon you will find a job that will suit your physical mental emotional spiritual needs more, and it might be a bit less taxing on the body, tho i imagine after a time you build up callouses to such outside conditions, plus you're young and resiliant and can take stuff like that, plus those chefs sound like way too much fun, so its starting to be a place you like the people in, and i know they are totally graced by your presence in the place and have probably never come across anyone like you in their life, and dont tell me half those dudes dont want to marry you already...even the married ones...!
man, i cant stop...
so anyway, enjoy your 4 days off coming real soon, in fact, aint it around lunch time there already?
heck, i was just going from my couch to my bed...its still the middle of the night for me...
xo

javajazz said...

ps i was thinking it would be cool to get the comments up to 200 before you changed your post...i know how your loyal readers are chomping at the bit for yet another post (so much for natural spontanaiety and savouring old posts like beautiful old pieces of artwork or darned good sex...)
but maybe this day we can all just add a s--tload of comments to bring this up to 200, just for good old Blogger fun, or perhaps, as a way to give back to you, who gives endlessly and tirelessly to her loyal and appreciative readers...

javajazz said...

hey, look, we only need 39 more comments to reach, uh, MY goal!
heehee!

javajazz said...

or is it 38 now?
(snorkle snorkle!)

javajazz said...

nope, it was 37 and is now just a mere 36...ha! piece of cake!
(mmm, cake!)

javajazz said...

k, i'm outta here, and will probably totally forget i said all this by the end of my day...besides, i figure Terry and i alone could blam about 30 comments in in record time, and with Autumn added to the mix we might even get to 300 before the next post...actually i'd like to try for 300 now that i think of it...has that ever been done? Kesh? i know you get a ridiculous ton of people responding on your bloggie, or at least the last time i looked you had tons of people there...ever had 300?
k, i'll stop.

Meg said...

#166 - Count me in Lisa - may my little contribution help towards your (our) anal goal of 200...or was it 300 now???

:) I meant that in the kindest possible way you know.

And just think, we are getting close to accomplishing this milestone without Tree's help (for the most part) since he's been away on work - certainly we would have busted the roof of the place if he had been around !!

Pleasant day all, I'll check in later to add some more nonsense to push us towards the finish line.

Peace,
Meg

jillie said...

Good morning Autumn...well another day has come and go and the days are getting better and better. Today the sun is shining and I think we are going to do some "shopping" therapy ;o)

i hope all is well, it's been over a week since you posted, but i do see you leaving comments......have a good weekend.

tsduff said...

Happy FRIDAY to you my dear Autumn - wishing you free sailing and lots of relaxation this weekend - you've certainly earned it!!! I'm dying to hear about the difference between the Italians and English chefs... beside's their complextions... LOL

Man alive Lisa - too much coffee and chocolate for you last night...heh heh. I'll just be leaving one liners for a while because I'm up to my ears in deadlines at work. boo hoooooooo. They are tax related deadlines, so I can't really argue there. Plus the Bear is going out of town to Florida so I'll be alone anyway. Okay, no worms this time, but hey, what do you have against quinoa anyway? I think it is great. And I like the gooey barley too. And oatmeal. But I don't think I'll sample the millet. And I'm also in agreement that those cadbury eggs are a bit too thick and sweet for me... I prefer dark dark (did I say dark) chocolate once in a while. The Bear eats it all for dinner, oh, and lunch and breakfast... and in between :-) He is the most chocolatey guy I've ever met :-D ummmm.

imfredshand said...

hey stormy! havent spoken to you in ages! Happy weekend!

javajazz said...

MEG!! you go girl!
thats the spirit!
Bloggers helping one another.
in fun and frolic, even.
dont even ask me how
this lame contest idea
even came about...
especially since "we're" having
it without Autumns knowledge
approval or participation,
and i think Terry was still
asleep so she didnt know yet.
but i so appreciate your
being "in the spirit" as it
were! you know, give a little
take a little...
oh, and Tree's away huh?
no wonder its been so quiet...
his multiple personalities could have definitely been a plus at this crucial contest time...oh well, we shall have to press on without his kindly assistance...perhaps even JODES can lend a hand here!
i personally attach a substantial amount of validity to comments, almost giving them equal value to posts, seeing as they contain some wondrous elements of human nature and insight in them as well, if one is inclined to even read them...

anyway, i usually forget to
look on my own blog, but when
i did, turns out Autumn had
proposed a wee bit of a challenge herself, to me, something about
whomever came up with a new post
by noon tomorrow would win
a Cadbury Creme Egg...well, we've had way too much discussion about
that gross snotty egg in the past day, and i'm not usually that competitive, but i rose to the challenge, all freshly inspired, at around 5:30am my time, and suddenly got a case of the giggles, finished my previous post to make sure I would have 100 comments (as you know this is SO easy when i have logorrhea, which is you-know-what of the mouth...)
i actually looked it up for spelling, on dictionary dot calm and it was defined as "incessant or compulsive talkativeness; wearisome volubility...." it also said something about "pathologically excessive, often incoherent talkativeness or wordiness, that is characteristic especially of the manic phase of manic-depressive disorder..." which pretty much shed some light on my continued self diagnosis of my own demonic disorders...
but i digress...(i usually do).
so i rose to the challenge and totally won the creme egg contest unbeknownst to Autumn and pretty much everyone but me and the Cosmos...but had a welcomed fit of the giggles in doing so...
meanwhile back to the 200 comment challenge that Autumn knows absolutely nothing aboot! you're right, maybe 200's a wee bit anal, lets make it 202...anything over 200...and soon! shes probably home from work already! (knowing Autumn, she'll mail me a Cadbury Creme Egg when she finds out i won...course it wasnt fair as she was working her buns off and i was home...oh well, i'll make it up to her, perhaps propose that SHE eat the yummy gooey eggie to balance things out, i mean, oot.

javajazz said...

Terry!
there you are!
come on guys,
wheres that blogger spirit!
i want Autumn to freak out
when she sees 200 comments
upon her return...
do i have to do this
singlehandedly? (yawn...)
yes, i know i've suddenly
become obsessed, but hey,
some people ask for more posts,
i'm asking for more comments,
and pronto too, i might add...
its just a silly thought
but, well, we'll see who
can muster up the strength
to lend a helping hand...

javajazz said...

ya, i kind of flipped out
last night Terr...maybe i
am a wee bit manic depressive.
its always nice to have a
diagnosis, especially a self
diagnosis, so i can avoid
the unneccssary complications
of over medicating, or medicating
at all...heck, i'd rather eat
QUINOA than take prozac any day.
wait, let me ponder that statement
a bit more....anyhoo, looks a
bit slow on the comment front.
people want more posts, more posts more posts, but man, it sure is hard to cough up a few extra comments aint it?

javajazz said...

alrighty then,
