The only way is up

That is the sensational number of points, Trée our Team Captain, reached today! With a figure like that, hide-blessings are not only deserved but required practise. Congratulations!

Of course, without Trée starting this team (which I should just like to highlight is less than 5 months old) we wouldn't have been able (between the 22 of us who have returned results so far) to donate close to 6,5 years and counting of runtime.

Bravo is, for those who do not know, just one of over 17,000 teams that contribute idle computer time to the World Community Grid, whose mission it "is to create the largest public computing grid benefiting humanity. Our work is built on the belief that technological innovation combined with visionary scientific research and large-scale volunteerism can change our world for the better."

With over 320,000 members world wide thus far one result is returned circa every 8 minutes, which means in the time that Bravo has been a part of this endeavour, some projects have been completed and others have come in to replace them. Most recently, AfricanClimate@home was launched joining the other current projects Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together, Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2 and FightAids@Home. To read more about these and completed projects, go here.

There is tremendous potential to make a difference and to do so without it requiring anything more than a few minutes of time to set it all up. Thenceforward, it runs automatically.
Step one --> Register, download and install
Step two --> Join our fantastic team

What is particularly wonderful about Team Bravo is that the figures keep climbing, not just the obvious ones, total points, total results, but every once in a while we exceed our daily averages, create new targets to beat, and none of that would be possible without not only new members signing up (Most recent recruit, bleyedreamer aka Sara, once again, thank you and Welcome! aboard), but the steady dedication of our 'old' members. There has, as can be seen below, been some serious crunching going on!

The One to Watch this month is ThunderBob, who has essentially doubled his scores in the last three weeks!

Fantastic results there for everybody. Well done for 500,000 and yes the only way is up!
Well done you AS too let non of us forget that you give over your blog to bringing us these updates and creating the inspiration within the team.
Team Bravo rocks yeah but you are the one that makes it rock.

If you are out there reading this going what a load of self congratulatory b.s. and you are not yet a member of team bravo you won't understand until you follow all the instructions and become a member....so just do it and all things will become clear!!

AS I was in pure moaning mood, lots going on and all that but I'm happy now!! Even happy to be going to work, well hey you're good but maybe not that good!

Catch you later oh mighty team spirit guru!!

Running late, Simon, so quick reply. Thanks for the comment, the crunching, but most of all your enthusiasm. :-) Good to hear you sounding happier too, if not quite about going to work. :-D Still hope you have a good one though.

See you on the blog. Patter on. ;-)

WOO HOO TREE! You da' man! ;-)

Gosh, it seems like just a few weeks ago you had the 1,000,000 milestone post, and here we are just a breath away from 2,000,000!

Hope you are having a wonderful Friday and have a super weekend ahead of you!!!!! :-D

Autumn Storm said...

Hey sweetie, I was just thinking about you. :-) Hope you have a fantastic Friday and weekend too, xoxo
And thanks again, ghato, for all that you have done for the team, points scored in excess of 100,000 and you are one of our newest members! Amazing, always. :-)

Hi AS hope you've had a good day and are able to settle down to a quiet(ish)evening.
Work was as expected to be honest...crap with a capital F!

But I have to say well cheered by the last visit of the QE2 to Liverpool, on a grey day in the pouring rain, the river, the beauty of the ship, probably post in about an hour, half time in the rugby maybe!!!

It never ceases to amaze me what little things can do to alter your mood!!

Have a good evening AS!

Beautiful colors - your blog is always so pretty.

Hope you have a nice weekend - mine hasn't quite started yet.

Simon, that last shot reminded me so much of rough trips across the North Sea, I had the beginnings of sea sickness. :-D

Trée said...

You know Sweetest, I can think of almost 500 reasons why I love you so. That dulcet breeze, well, enjoy kisses from afar. Slumber sweet my most spectacular diva. Grinding the beans as I type. Off white cups clean and ready as I gaze at the misty shores of Ibiza. Brazilian oils warmed and glistening on brawny hands await shoulders smooth with dreams and warm of sheet and pillow. :-)

EBEZP said...

Morning AS sorry about the seasickness! Mind you the North Sea can be a bit rough can't it?
And so to work....
Have a great Saturday!
Electronically mine has started well just work to cope with now!!
Catch you later.

Autumn Storm said...

Simon, so glad things are going well for you in that respect. Hope you have a good day at work too, :-), a great Saturday generally.

Sweet poppet, my brightest star, my dance to the moon, sleep fast, missing you too much.

EBEZP said...

Well AS my heads all over the place but your kind words helped as ever, yes generally a good day, thanks how's yours been?
I sent you some Athns pics and I was told that the first ones didnt work which is why I sent them again!
Yeah wow your comment on mine about Malmo and that - google mapped that part of the world for the first time ever last night and wow the next nearest city to Malmo is in Denmark isn't it?
Copenhagen has always attracted me to be honest, it might make a good neutral place for a meeting do you think? There's one or two logistical reasons why Malmo may not be such a good idea ....yet!!

Bought you over some supper, cheesy pizza type things, hope you like them

See you tomorrow, enjoy the rest of your evening.

Autumn Storm said...

Thanks for the pictures, Simon. You obviously made full use of your time there to see as much as possible. Some really nice shots amongst that are making my feet itch too. :-)

It takes just 35 mins on the train from Malmø to Copenhagen, if you do decide to go and want some practical advice, accommodation and so on, email me.

Thanks for the cheesy whatsits. And have a great Sunday. :-)

EBEZP said...

Have a great Sunday yourself Autumn, running a bit late this morning but thanks for that. See you later.

Trée said...

Congrats on returning over 500 results to our fantabulous endeavor of hope and mercy. You are a star who, more than once, have carried me home.

Love,

The Poppet :-)

Autumn Storm said...

:-) Hey you, how nice was that! As close as I watch the stats, I hadn't even realized. Thank you, sweetest heart, love to you, x

EBEZP said...

Congrats from me too AS and as you say in your post, we are only young as a team aren't we? Well done!
Tomorrow or tuesday there will be a T shirt modelled somewhere somehow so you best keep your eyes peeled!!

Thank you for the Scandinavian info! I'm thinking that may go over in the next couple of months if all goes well and I will let you know and you can give me the heads up! You can probably gather that things on that front are settling down quite nicely now she's returned home, which was my biggest worry!

It's a while since Google Maps have been used so much!!

Have a good evening Autumn and I'll catch you tomorrow oh and once again thank you for always listening to my moans and all your kindness!

Autumn Storm said...

Well, Simon, never let it be said, I wasn't willing to listen to a grown man moaning. ;-) Just teasing, seriously you weren't, but were you ever to, as you said once, the box is always open. I'm really glad things are working out for you as you had hoped, early days though it may be, it all sounds very promising. So no need to worry, simply enjoy. :-)
Look forward to finally seeing you modelling the t-shirt, seems like we have been waiting for an age since you put that promise on the table. I know from your blog that there are several people waiting to see you make good on it. Me, I just want to see if it fits. :-D

Have a good night too!

Hey I've got the reverse of Monday morning blues, watching everybody going out to work and do stuff and I couldn't care less.
Have a great day and welcome to "No Moan Week!!"

For you!

Those enthusiasm injections really work....Woo!

Autumn Storm said...

Gorgeous flower, Simon, thank you kindly. :-) Happy Monday, happy week!!

Thanks AS!
I know it's late but if you follow nip over to

Yes it fits!!

Coffee ready as promised. Still smiling from your starring role. What a gift. Watched the entire concert again. Amazing stuff. The songs just come alive in that venue almost as if they are different songs. To see you there, with James, singing and smiling like I'm never seen you before, well, that concert will always be something very special. And 1973 will never be the same either. :-)

cONGRATS!!

Autumn Storm said...

That night was something special, I loved being able to watch it again and to relive it. The only thing that could have made it any better is if you had been there too, so that I could say to someone 'didn't you just love...'. And now I can. :-) Thank you for the coffee, and thank you for being you. Love and hugs, x

Autumn Storm said...

Happy Tuesday, Saff. :-)

Simon, that was really nice to see, thank you for doing that. And you made good on the team blog idea that you had, look forward to seeing where it goes. Have a great day off today! And congratulations once again on winning the competition, your efforts were exemplary. :-D

EBEZP said...

Thanks AS There's still an enthusiasm alert out!! If it lasts until tomorrow when I go back in to work after my weekend then it's a real result!!
Have agreat day!
Catch you later.

That is absolutely FANTASTIC!!! You know, I downloaded all of that onto my computer and it was messing something up (or so Robert says!) and he took it off. That's why I wasn't racking any numbers. I just wish he would stay away from my computer.

But lets hear it for Team Bravo!!!!! You guys really do rock and I enjoy reading about it. I'll just be a team member by proxy ;o)

luv ya!

Autumn Storm said...

That's my favourite yet, Simon. :-D Enjoy the rest of your day off - and I'll check in on you before you head to bed, make sure you are feeling positive still about tomorrow. ;-)

Jillie, those results are truly amazing, cannot stress it enough, given how young a team we are and the relatively small number of crunchers. Just checked the stats, and within the next 1-3 days we will hit the big 2 Million!
Hope your trip was thoroughly enjoyable! Missed you these past couple of days, love and hugs, x

Hi AS....I'm still buzzing!
You had a comment addressed to you on the new site, can you believe that? Anonymous who is S from Malmo by the way!!
The T is still doing the rounds, it's on the photoblog today! Trouble is I was reminded that I did say on ALL the sites. Ok I'll let you know when it goes on the gutter press!! At least you'll know when not to visit won't you.

Hope your day has been free from too much hassle, have a good evening...Eastenders?

Autumn Storm said...

She sounds as nice as you said she was, Simon, friendly, forthcoming. Can see one reason already why you two would get on. :-)
Does that mean that there will be a saucy version of the T pose? :-D Or did I misread that completely? In any case, yes, do let me know, and either way, I'll know when to visit. :-D
Buzz on!

EBEZP said...

Oh wow I don't know how you have done it but I'm still buzzing! Work tomorrow....yeah! Today actually!! It got late quick didn't it!
Yeah S is rather nice isn't she? The best bit is we may well be meeting up in a couple of weeks as she's hoping to come over to Dublin so that's a big wow!
What with her, you and of course Jules all pulling for me I can't go wrong can I?
If you've got the time sometime nip over to Jules's and the post before the one about the new blog you'll see how I made somebody's day as well!!

Night night AS and once again thank you for all the background 'crunching' you do on my behalf!

Autumn Storm said...

Will do Simon, before I leave this morning.

She certainly seems very nice. Hope you do succeed in meeting up, and so much sooner than you anticipated too. Promising. :-)

Have a truly great day ahead!!
