Last night, Team Bravo gave us yet more cause to celebrate having reached 10 years of runtime, which to put it another way means that for every 24 hours of real time that team Bravo has been in operation, our relatively few members have contributed over 420 hours of runtime to the World Community Grid, who in turn have put those contributions to most excellent use procuring over 11,000 results.
Bless your sweet, dedicated hearts!
The grid celebrates this week too. As of November 16th, it has been running for 3 years and the total results sent back from over 800,000 computers across the globe now exceeds 128,000,000!
'tis okay, I have a lump in my throat too. To think there are hundreds of thousands of people united in an effort to find cures and solutions for problems effecting all of humanity, AIDS and Cancer to name but two of the current projects.
The good news is, yes there is more good news, anyone with a computer and an internet connection can be a part of it and all it requires is 5 minutes of setting up after which it runs automatically never interfering with personal use. Genius, pure and simple, but then those guys at IBM who donated the software that allows the individual to connect to the grid are somewhat known for it.
Five minutes, two steps to start making a change, to be a part of a global project to help ourselves, to potentially make a world of difference to the individual afflicted, the individual which could one day be you or I, someone we know, someone we love. Those among us for example who have not been touched by Cancer within their closest circles are very fortunate indeed.
5 minutes, 2 steps, easy, safe, worthwhile, please, thank you.
Step one: Complete the registration and installation process via the World Community Grid.
Step two: Join Team Bravo.
Personal milestones have also been many as always.
Just a few of those recent highlights have included the welcoming of two new members, redaster and LovingAnnie and congratulations were well deserved as Kiley aka ariadneK reached 400,000 points and days later passed 1000 results.

10 years in about 6 months. As someone I knew used to say, "WOW." :-D
Sweetest, your support of the cause never ceases to amaze me. Tis why I love you so.
Wow is spot-on in this case. :-D
Thank you, my captain. :-) Sweet dreaming when you get that far.
PS Wanna fix the colours for me while I'm out? ;-)
Happy Thanksgiving Autumn! :)
Sweetest, a serenade for all you do with a little help from Colbie. Enjoy :-)
I've been awake for a while now
You got me feeling like a child now
'Cause every time I see your bubbly face
I get the tinglies in a silly place
It starts in my toes
And I crinkle my nose
Wherever it goes
I always know
That you make me smile
Please stay for a while now
Just take your time
Wherever you go
The rain is falling on my window pane
But we are hiding in a safer place
Under covers staying dry and warm
You give me feelings that I adore
It starts in my toes
And I crinkle my nose
Wherever it goes
I always know
That you make me smile
Please stay for a while now
Just take your time
Wherever you go
What am I going to say
When you make me feel this way
I just mmmmm
And it starts in my toes
And I crinkle my nose
Wherever it goes
I always know
That you make me smile
Please stay for a while now
Just take your time
Wherever you go
I've been asleep for a while now
You tuck me in just like a child now
'Cause every time you hold me in your arms
I'm comfortable enough to feel your warmth
And it stats in my soul
And I lose all control
When you kiss my nose
The feeling shows
'cause you make me smile baby
Just take your time now
Holdin' me tight
Wherever wherever wherever you go
Wherever wherever wherever you go
wherever you go
I always know
'Cause you make me smile
Even just for a while
Love,
Poppet
Wonderful news! Congratulations to and to all who's lives are changed by this.
Sending great bundles of love full of joy, like piles of leaves in the fall to a 4 year old.
I do hope you're well, and blessed. You are most certainly loved.
Hugs to you and to yours.
Aggie
Woo fantastic news once again Autumn and I still say it so I will....WOW!
Trée and yourself work so hard at steering the team and without the support of both of you we would be becalmed!
Every single result counts and every single point helps, it truly is fantastic and as you always so rightly say you don't have to do anything at all and only 5 minutes to join.....WOW again.
Well happy thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates it and a happy thursdat 22 November to everybody else. Hope your day was as good as it could be and as a special dispensation you can watch celebrity tonight without being named and shamed enjoy your evening Autumn!
Ah, but you follow your wows with more, Simon, therein lies the appreciated difference. :-)
Thanks Simon for all the support and enthusiasm that you lay at the foot of these posts, showing by example that what is written is true. In your case, you joined before we even made friends. Wow. :-)
Thank you, however I have no intention of watching that rubbish. Twas (to follow tis, and yes, I do speak like this at times:-D) not what I was hoping for, which in short would have been re-runs from last year. David Gest shall forever hold a place in my heart for the stomach-aching giggles of one legged nuns with herpes and Vaginaca Semen.
Happy 22nd Simon, and have a great evening. :-)
Aggie, it is so very wonderful to see you stop by. :-D There is nothing quite like an Aggie comment to bring smiles, joy and warmth. Hope you and your family have a very happy Thanksgiving, big love and bear hugs to you. :-)
Poppet, I first saw this delightful song a few days ago, loved it instantly. Thank you most kindly for the song, for the smiles and for your sweetness. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, xo
Thank you, Mona, :-), to you too.
Now that is definitely something to be thankful for!! :-)
Yes. :-)
And thank you for your part in it.
Had to put up a post of my own to commemorate this very important milestone! (Hope you don't mind that I borrowed your graphic! :-)
Ooooh, fabulous! On my way!!
You remind me why I'm determined not to watch it this year, in case it's anything like last years!! Thank you for that.
Team Bravo 'The Great Befriender'! That's good I like that!
Have a great Friday at least we haven't got Thanksgiving hangovers!!
Good Friday morning to you, Autumn Storm ! How was Thanksgiving dinner yesterday ?
Ten years of runtime for Team Bravo - excellent !
How come I'm not showing up on the list ??? I know I signed up --
It's a great cause :)
Morning Annie, do love your cheerfulness. :-)
Being a Brit, Thanksgiving is not something we celebrate, it has always been my favourite non-holiday though. Something we do not celebrate, yet. Myself and M (my daughter) have just decided that from next year we are going to make this tradition ours too. Hope yours was lovely as can be. :-)
Since you went on holiday almost immediately after joining, Annie, we were not worried about no results having come through as yet. Some calculations can be quite large and so you may be working on one of these. If you think that you should have returned one by now, you can check your status by clicking the little WCG icon in your clock panel which will open up a window with several choices for you to peruse. Have a look under Tasks and see what it says. If you have any queries feel free to ask me here or via email.
Have a wonderful...what did Grace call it over at DT...post-stuffing day (I think), in any case, have a wonderful Friday, xo
Simon, how do you feel about the decision to cut Celebrity BB? :-D
Happy Friday to you!!
I'm not surprised or really that bothered to be honest, I think it should have been every two years and some element of entertainment introduced!!
Hope your Friday was good and you are easing your way in to the weekend! Make it a good one Autumn.
Don't you just love this?!
Autumn,
I got 'suspended' and 'aborted' and do not understand why. The whole panel is greek to me - not sure what I am looking at/what it means...
Annie, suspension usually occurs if you are running on batteries on a laptop for example, it just means that it will resume later.
I don't think there are any problems, joining is so simple it really cannot go wrong and everything after that is automatic. However, it can be nice to know what those panels are and so here is a quick description, simple as this is me and I am the least technical minded, computer owning person there is.
When you open your panel, the first entitled Project should show your project name (World Community Grid), your member name and your team name. It will also show how much work you have done so far.
Next is Tasks which will show what you are currently working on and sometimes also the task that you have recently completed and which is waiting to be sent back.
Third is Transfers, where I currently do not have anything displayed but if memory serves this is just a list of completed tasks that are waiting to be returned.
Fourth, Messages which displays all communication with the grid.
Statistics is a graph that shows your progress.
And Disc which I really don't know what is other than that it has something to do, I presume, with how much space the project is using.
Just click Tasks and see what it says or even easier, simply run your mouse over the icon in your clock panel and a small information bar will show you how far along you are.
I really do think that due to your being away you just have yet to complete a task. :-)
Cute, Simon. :-D Thank you, the weekend is off to a good start. :-) Have a great one yourself!
Mine's off to a good start as well Autumn, say no more!!
Happy Birthday to M by the way, hope you both have a really super day.
Some pics E mailed to you for her and if you can and have the time later on take her with you to the one a day......!!
Sweetest, your hard work will not go unrewarded. :-)
Happy Birthday to M,
from,
Poppy Boy
I just wanted to come by to say Congrats to the whole team! I'm overly joyed and so proud to be part of something so meaningful and important...
Jules, bless your heart for those sentiments. It is an absolute joy to have you with us. Thank you for all that you are doing, xo, and I hope you have a perfect weekend. :-)
Thank you, I shall pass on those wishes to my birthday girl. :-D Sweet dreams, my love, xo
Simon, that was an incredibly sweet thing to do. :-D Off to check those two places now. PS I know I am behind once again on your blogs, but I will catch up soonest. Happy Saturday.
I'm not sure why I didn't stop by long long ago... but thank you for your open arms, Autumn!
I hope M had a great birthday day!
Thank you, Jules, also for that wonderful post over at 1-a-day, we were both surprised and very touched by the gesture. :-)
Happy Sunday, xo
Congratulations!!!!
Congratulations.
I'm looking into this 'grid thingy' :)
:-)
Feel free to ask any questions, Miladysa.
